The Watauga Humane Society will hold a grand opening celebration of its new state-of-the-art, 17,000-square-foot animal shelter on Sunday, Nov. 6, from 1 to 4 p.m.

The shelter is located at 312 Paws Way in Boone.

Kicking off the grand opening celebration at 1 p.m. will be a key-Turning teremony with past Humane Society president Dee Dundon.

There will be many family friendly activities during the afternoon, which include an animal petting corral, guided tours of the new facility, and face painting for the Kids.

An Adopt-A-Pet Parade of the Watauga Humane Society’s dogs will occur during the celebration.
Live music will be provided by Left of Blue and Jo Northup. Gift bags of doggie and kitty treats and toys will be given away, along with door prizes, including a grand prize of an annual membership to the Dog Park. Finger food and refreshments will be provided.

During the grand opening celebration, the Watauga Humane Society will offer a special adoption fee of $10 off the regular dog and cat adoption fees.

There will also be a book signing with Nancy A. Kaiser, animal communicator and healer, author of “Tales of an Animal Communicator: Master Teachers.”
