The High Country Caregiver Foundation (HCCF) will host its third Semiannual Trivia Night Challenge on Saturday, Feb. 27, at La Quinta Inn in Boone.

HCCF is a nonprofit organization designed to offer support and respite to caregivers in Avery and Watauga counties, said Dr. Carol G. Schaffer, vice president, who, with her fellow HCCF committee members, volunteers her services to make life better for others.

"We count on these fundraising activities to support and provide respite for caregivers in Avery and Watauga counties," she said.

"We have provided vouchers for nearly 70 members of our community for a well-deserved break," she said.

Vouchers for $500 each are traded in to local participating agencies for services that will benefit the health and well-being of the family caregivers.

"Trivia night is fun for all and a great way to support this worthy cause," said Brenda Reece, executive director of HCCF. "The Trivia challenges have become tremendously successful for the foundation and continue to grow each time.

"We are asking community members, businesses, civic clubs and individuals to help us in supporting these caregivers by participating in this fun-filled evening."

Veteran TV anchorman Jim Marsh will serve as guest host for the event, joined by numerous new and returning contestants and audience members.

"The Trivia Challenge will be an exciting evening where teams can match wits to earn prizes and bragging rights," Reece said.

The $20 admission fee includes prizes for each round, food, soft drinks and "plenty of laughs," she said.

The reception begins at 6 p.m., when guests can purchase raffle tickets (which includes dinner for two at the Gamekeeper) and enjoy food and fellowship, while meeting this year's sponsors and hosts. A cash bar will be available for beverage purchases.

The trivia competition begins at 7 p.m. Teams of five to 10 players will be quizzed on a variety of general knowledge subjects.

For more information, or to register a team, contact Reece at (breece@regiond.org) or (828) 265-5434, extension 128.
