Tour for Life
The world’s largest mobile adoption event rolls into the
parking lot of the Boone Walmart at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 13.
The event is sponsored by the North Shore Animal League’s Tour for Life and shelters from across northwest North Carolina.
Prospective pet owners will learn the basics of taking care of a dog or cat and which breed is right for them.
Participating shelters and rescues include the Ashe, Avery, Caldwell and Watauga animal shelters, Happy Tails Rescue of West Jefferson, Second Chance Dogs of Ashe and many more.
In addition to featuring adoptable shelter dogs, cats, puppies and kittens, the event will also offer information on the benefits of adopting shelter pets, behavioral education and special services available to pet owners.
The Tour for Life event is also a chance to give your pet an inexpensive health and safety boost by attending the low-cost rabies clinic, according to a news release.
A vaccine can be administered for $8 per year and $10 per three-year vaccine.
In addition to the checkup and renewal of shots, pets will also be treated to a pet-a-cure for $5, a temporary tattoo and the installation of a pet microchip for $25, the release notes.
The Boone Police Department will also be on hand to provide a K9 demonstration, and Melissa McKinnon of Woof Pack Pet Services will conduct a dog training demonstration.
