TCVA Spring Exhibition Celebration April 1
Appalachian State University's Turchin Center for the Visual Arts has six new reasons to celebrate this spring with its second Spring Exhibition Celebration on Friday, April 1, as a part of Downtown Boone's First Friday Art Crawl.
From 7-9 p.m., the Turchin Center will be open for all visitors to come and celebrate the current exhibitions on display, meet some of the artists, listen to live music by the Lucky Strikes and enjoy a refreshing beverage from the cash bar.
A special "Donors Only" reception will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. According to organizers, those planning to attend should "dress to kill, dress to thrill or dress to chill and join the Turchin Center as they bring in the spring season with some of the most compelling artwork in this region."
Exhibitions being celebrated on April 1 are Appalachian Alumni in the Arts, 8th Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition, Beyond their Natural Range: April Flanders, Places for Contemplation in Public Buildings: Alex Poorman, Open Spaces, Sacred Places: Tom Stoner & TKF Foundation and Chromata: Laura Berman.
The following exhibitions are on display in the East Wing of the center: Appalachian Alumni in the Arts, Main Gallery; 8th Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition, Mezzanine Gallery; Beyond their Natural Range, Catwalk Community Gallery. All three exhibitions will be up through June 4, 2011. The following exhibitions are on display in the West Wing of the center: Places for Contemplation in Public Buildings, Gallery A; Open Spaces, Sacred Places, Gallery B; Chromata, Mayer Gallery.
