Although based in Florida, professional storyteller Linda Spitzer is spinning tales in the High Country this August.

On Saturday, Aug. 3, she’ll present two storytelling sessions at Fred’s General Mercantile in Beech Mountain at 10 and 11 a.m., as part of the Crafts on the Green event. Admission is free.

On Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 7 p.m., her tales will take on a tone of philanthropy at a fundraiser for Lees-McRae College’s Summer Theatre intern scholarships.

Titled “Have I Got a Story for You: Folk Tales of Wit and Wisdom,” Spitzer’s presentation promises “enthusiasm and delight” for her audience, which she said spans all ages.

“Storytelling is not just for kids,” said Spitzer, who has a master’s degree in storytelling from East Tennessee State University, in addition to 25 years’ worth of experience in her field.

Spitzer’s Lees-McRae presentation will take place at the college’s Evans Auditorium, located in the LMC Student Union off Main Street in downtown Banner Elk.

For more information, call the LMC box office at (828) 898-8709.
