Spruce Pine BBQ Championship & Bluegrass Festival
Spruce Pine is bringing new meaning to summer
Barbecue enthusiasts and music lovers are invited to the Spruce Pine BBQ Championship and Bluegrass Festival July 19 and 20, featuring some of the Southeast’s most highly acclaimed barbecue teams and award-winning bands.
The event features a sanctioned, professional barbecue competition, competition-style barbecue vendors, live bluegrass, a cornhole tournament, championship clogging teams, local food and craft vendors, the Spruce Pine Skedaddle 5K & Fun Run, a play area for kids and more.
Music comes courtesy of Darin and Brooke Aldridge, performing Friday evening on the festival stage, and Balsam Range, performing Saturday.
The Spruce Pine BBQ Championship & Bluegrass Festival is hosted by the Rotary Club of Spruce Pine and Spruce Pine Main Street and is sanctioned by the Southern Barbecue Network. All profits from the festival will benefit Rotary Club charities.
For adults, admission wristbands valid for both days of the festival are $5, and children younger than 12 get in free. Older-than-21 wristbands for beer purchases are $1. Free festival parking is available with a handicapped-accessible shuttle service.
Due to health department regulations, pets will not be allowed at the festival. Festivalgoers are encouraged to bring their own chairs for the bluegrass and clogging performances. No coolers or backpacks with beverages are permitted. Bags and backpacks may be searched.
