Santa Paws is coming to town
Have yourself a furry little Christmas.
Santa Paws is returning to the High Country Saturday, Dec. 3, and area pets (and their owners) are invited to pose for a pet portrait, with proceeds benefiting the Watauga Humane Society.
Photographs cost $15 for the first 5 by 7 photo and $5 for extras. Dogs must be wearing collars and leashes, and cats and all other critters must be brought in crates.
Santa Paws will be available for portraits Saturday, Dec. 3, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Little Red Schoolhouse behind the Mast General Store in Valle Crucis and Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Watauga Humane Society’s new animal shelter, located at 312 Paws Way in Boone.
During the Dec. 10 Santa Paws event, the Watauga Humane Society will also host its annual Holiday Open House. Visitors are invited to stop by between 1 and 5 p.m. to explore the organization’s new digs. Since it’s the holiday season, folks are invited to bring gifts for the shelter’s residents, like cat toys, dog toys, fleece blankets for dogs or rubber-backed bath mats for cats. The society’s also accepting dog and cat food for its pet pantry, and any brand is welcome, provided it’s unopened and in its original packaging.
