Run Before You Crawl
Ed Plant of Famous Fast Eddie’s in Beech Mountain invites visitors to sample some of his specialties during the inaugural Beech Mountain Pub Crawl.
As the town of Beech Mountain gears up the big Antler Realty Cool 5 Race this Saturday, June 9, the restaurants on Beech Mountain are preparing for the afternoon Pub Crawl following the race.
Famous Fast Eddie’s is the first stop on the crawl at 4 p.m. Per owner Ed Plant, “Just head to the ski resort entrance and you will find me at the base of it.” Plant will be cooking his famous meatballs and homemade chips, all complimentary to pub crawlers between 4 and 5 p.m.
Crawlers will be moving on to the Beech Alpen Inn at 5 p.m. Proprietor Steve Raymond said, “I am serving our most popular spinach artichoke dip plus other dinner specials. Pub crawlers may enjoy sitting outside and looking at our Blue Ridge Mountain vistas.”
At 6 p.m., the crawl will move on to the Brick Oven Pizza, located across from Beech Mountain Town Hall.
Owned and operated by the Accardi family, Brick Oven will be serving its famous pizza. Iliana Accardi said, “ I want everyone to try several of our varieties. Our best selling pie for the past 25 years has been cheese, but we have incredible meat and fresh vegetable toppings, as well.”
The last stop at 7 p.m. is a dance party at Jackolope’s View Restaurant and Archers Inn. Proprietor Candy Catoe will also offer a 20-percent lodging discount to any pub crawlers.
Julia Heinlein, owner of Antler Realty and race title sponsor, said, “This is our first Pub Crawl on Beech Mountain, so nobody needs to run after the race. Crawl a bit in the afternoon and have some fun on our beautiful mountain.”
