Rootsfest in Valle Crucis
Rootsfest will look to leave a lasting impact in Valle Crucis
during its inaugural run this weekend.
The family-oriented fun day will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Valle Crucis Community Park.
The community bash will feature live music, arts and crafts, and food vendors.
Children’s activities will primarily consist of face painting, carnival games and a bounce house.
Activity tickets are $1 each, but an unlimited activities wristband costs $15.
Event organizers are hoping the fundraiser will become an annual event.
“The idea for the event began primarily as a fundraiser for the park,” park director Caroline Gandy said. “This is the kind of event we have been wanting to do for a long time.”
The park also hosts a summer concert series that serves as a fundraiser for the park’s operating costs.
Saturday’s music lineup features several notable acts, including the Todd Wright Trio (11:15 a.m.), Carolina Crossing (12:30 p.m.) and The Sheets Family (1:45 p.m.).
Parking is $5 per car. Overflow parking will be in the parking lot of the Valle Crucis School.
“I think this will be a great event for people of all ages,” Gandy said. “It’s definitely great for family. The parents will have live music and vendors, but there will be a lot of stuff for the kids to do, as well.”
