The first Watauga Humane Society Golf Tournament at Blowing Rock Country Club will be held on Friday, May 18, with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m.

Team prizes, special event prizes and a hole-in-one prize — a car provided by Alfred B. Glover’s Ford Lincoln Mercury — will be awarded.

The format of the tournament is a Schramble (two best balls of a foursome). Individual registration is $135, or $540 for a team of four. The fee includes a chance to play at the Blowing Rock Country Club, golf cart and green fees, a free bag lunch and other “goodies.” After the game, there will be a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres, presentation of prizes and the drawing of raffles.

“If you don’t play golf, you can still help provide much needed support by being a tournament sponsor, donating merchandise for tournament prizes or volunteering to work at the fundraiser,” a Watauga Humane Society spokesperson said.

All proceeds of the tournament will provide for the animals’ care and shelter as they wait at the Watauga Humane Society for families to adopt them.

The deadline for entries is May 16.
