Catawba Valley Brewing Company and Appalachian Mountain Sports are organizing the inaugural Pints and Pedals for Charity bicycle event in Morganton.
On Sept. 22, cyclists and their families from the Burke County area will meet at Catawba Valley Brewing Company (212 South Green St. in Morganton), take a ride, and then enjoy a catered lunch and beverages afterward.
Advanced riders will undertake a 50-mile loop through the Burke County foothills and Lake James, while the beginners can enjoy a 10-mile fun ride around historic Morganton.
Both rides are complemented by vivid scenery in every direction, and both will start and finish at the brewery. The rides are timed for everyone to finish together, so participants might enjoy some catered food, live music and, of course (if you’re old enough), some Catawba Valley beer.
This year’s beneficiary will be Options of Burke County, a small non-profit advocacy center that provides empowerment services and emergency shelter to Burke County families in crisis.
To register, visit http://www.eventbrite.com and search “Pints and Pedals for Charity.” Pre-registration costs $40 for the advanced ride, with a $3.19 fee, and $20 for the beginners’ ride, with a $2.09 fee.
