People of the Planet Tournament April 7
The seventh annual People of the Planet Soccer Tournament returns to Boone Sunday, April 7.
The seventh annual People of the Planet Soccer Tournament will
be held Sunday, April 7, at the Watauga High School turf fields.
The tournament will
celebrate Appalachian State University and community cultural diversity and is part of the annual
Diversity Celebration held on campus. Admission is free.
Adult teams will be comprised of
faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members representing many foreign
countries.
Youth teams in several age groups will have an opportunity to play. The U6 (ages
5, 6), U8 (ages 7, 8), U10 (ages 9, 10), U12 (ages 11, 12), and U14 (ages 13, 14) boys and girls
teams will be comprised of players from the community.
Youth players are required to register
online. The registration deadline for the youth players is March 22. All players will receive a
jersey made for the event. Also, children can register to carry small flags with the players before
each game.

Last year, individuals representing 45 countries
participated in the annual People of the Planet Soccer Tournament. This year’s event will be held
April 7 at Watauga High School.
