Olympic Coach comes to Beech Mountain for Cool 5

Daniel Scagnelli, director of Beech Mountain’s Parks and Recreation Department, has announced that the special guest speaker of the Antler Realty Cool 5 Race will be Olympic coach Lee Zohlman.

Zohlman will be speaking at the Pre-Race Pasta dinner the night before the race at from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 8, at the Buckeye Recreation Center at Beech Mountain.

As founder and lead coach of BodyZen, Zohlman elevated himself to the top of the triathlon coaching profession by being one of the very few Elite Level Three certified coaches in the world. He has coached and advised some of the world’s top Olympians and Ironman champions.

“He has served as a personal manager to Ironman champions and Olympians while successfully negotiating their corporate contracts, developing media training for the athletes and lending an ear in the rough patches that every athlete goes through,” Scagnelli said.

Zohlman and the UMS team have negotiated sponsor contracts with some of the biggest brands in the world, including Pepsi, Gatorade, Samsung and many more.

Julia Heinlein, event sponsor, and owner of Antler Realty, said, “It is an honor to have such a well-known Olympic coach come to Beech Mountain for the Cool 5 event. I think this is part of the growth of putting our town on the map as a major destination for athletes."

Zohlman is currently is a board member with the Runwell Foundation. He is past chairman and board member for the USA Triathlon Age Group Committee and USA Triathlon Florida Region.

He is also a charter member of the South Florida Triathletes.

Zohlman still competes in triathlons, rock climbs, ice climbs, swims and spends as much time as he can with his daughter, Kaia Blu, teaching her that the little things do add up to success. He resides in Miami, Fla.
