Nicholson signing in Boone Dec. 20
Local author Scott Nicholson is launching three new books with a signing at Black Bear Books in Boone on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
The first two books in Nicholson’s Fear series, “Liquid Fear” and “Chronic Fear,” are being published by Amazon’s Thomas & Mercer thriller imprint. Amazon picked up the series after “Liquid Fear” became a Top 20 Kindle bestseller in April and helped develop the sequel.
“The series was inspired by research on the President’s Council of Bioethics and the debate over the use of drugs to ‘improve’ us as human beings,” Nicholson said. “It’s a real slippery moral ground, especially when the interests of Big Pharmaceutical, politicians and individuals collide.
“And after my experience as a journalist, I’ve come to believe that government exists solely to serve itself and not the people. So writing fiction is a way to say that kind of stuff without being arrested for treason. Plus, I get to sit at home in dirty sweat pants instead of carrying a picket sign on a cold Washington street.”
Nicholson promises to dress like a respectable citizen at the signing, which is from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Boone Mall. He’ll also be signing “Monster’s Ink,” a new paperback collection of his various creature and horror stories, as well as half a dozen other books, including comics and the children’s books, “If I Were Your Monster” and “Too Many Witches.”
