Music at Ragged Gardens
What you do on Friday afternoon can set the tone for your entire weekend. So, it's important to get Friday afternoon right. You can sit in Friday afternoon traffic or try to get all of your weekend chores done before sunset.
Or you can chill with your friends and listen to some great music in one of the most beautiful outdoor settings in the High Country. It's your choice.
If you decide on the latter, you'll definitely want to take in the Friday afternoon concerts at the Inn at Ragged Gardens on Sunset Drive in Blowing Rock. Every Friday afternoon, weather permitting, hundreds of friends and neighbors gather for live music, food and drinks, and some well-deserved "wind down" time from the working week.
It's a fantastic way to chill, socialize and find out what's going on over the weekend. Best of all, there is no cover charge for the events.
Best Cellar Restaurant and Inn at Ragged Gardens owners Rob Dyer and Lisa Stripling began hosting the Friday afternoon concert events last May. They quickly became a favorite gathering for High Country residents of all ages. Kids run across the lawn and play the beanbag toss game, "corn hole," while their parents and other adults enjoy beverages from the outdoor bar and relax on lawn chairs.
The concerts have also become focal points for several local charities and non-profit organizations to meet with the public and spread the word about their activities.
Last year, the concerts hosted booths by the Watauga Humane Society, More for Moses and the Harvest Café, among others.
This summer, the Friday concerts at Ragged Gardens will feature Soul Benefactor on May 20, the Harris Brothers on May 27, Klee Liles on June 3, the Harris Brothers on June 10, Soul Benefactor on June 17, and the Harris Brothers on June 24.
Soul Benefactor performs classic rock and rhythm and blues. The Harris Brothers performs classic rock, Southern rock and blues. Klee Liles performs classic rock and singer-songwriter tunes.
The rest of the summer's concert schedule will be announced in the near future.
