Mountain Valleyfest May 15
Family fun in the sun is the theme of Mountain Valleyfest, taking place at Green Valley Park on Saturday, May 15.
This year's festival features live music from a host of area bands including The King Bees, Upright and Breathin', Elkville String Band, The Dollar Brothers, Folk & Dagger and Moonwater. It's a family-oriented event, taking 10 a.m. to 5 p.m, with the King Bees concluding the event with a second musical set.
There will also be plenty of kids' activities, such as craft booths, moonwalk, giant slide, obstacle course, face painting, balloon animals, Dora the Explorer game and more.
A number of vendors will be on hand selling handmade crafts and jewelry along with food from various local outlets including Makoto's, Woodland's Barbecue, and more.
The three main sponsors are Mast General Store, Tynecastle Builders and Preventing Alcohol Related Crashes. The festival will raise money for Green Valley Park and Mountain Pathways School. Admission is free, with a $3 parking charge.
The park is a collaborative non-profit venture, with 12 acres of land and a picnic shelter, canoe-and-kayak access point, walking trails, athletic fields, restrooms, and playground. It's located between Boone and Todd on Big Hill Road beside the South Fork of the New River.
