Proceeds from the calendar sales will benefit the Diaper Bank, which is affiliated with Who Needs a Change of the High Country, which operates under The Children’s Council of Watauga County.

“Basically, the concept allows moms to celebrate their beauty and strength,” said project co-captain Amy Forrester.
Photographer Kristin Espinosa began her work by compiling a list of local moms to be featured.
“We wanted diversity in terms of age and body type,” Forrester said. “We wanted them to really represent the entire culture of the High Country.”
Some of the women featured in the calendar have been photographed before. Forrester said she knew many of the parents from the PTO and dance classes.
“Everyone was really excited, and no one was hesitant at all,” Forrester said. “They were all surprised. They were like, ‘Oh, you want to use me?’ We said, ‘Yes. Definitely.’”
Models for the 2014 calendar are Theresa Keller, Felicia Yarboro, Ahsley Capel, Amber Hendley, Kim Greene, Crystal Turbyfill, Tabatha Wilcox, Lindsey Ray, Karen Lehmann, Heather Sofield, Courtney Boccardy, Kim Kop, Mariesa Johnson and Jesse Rose Blalock.

Community support for the calendars was also overwhelming, Forrester said, adding, “We had a lot of local businesses that sponsored administrative costs… The calendar looks like a national brand product.”According to Forrester, the calendars are $16 apiece, with $10 from each one sold going to charity.
“If we can sell every calendar, we can give a minimum donation of $4,500 to the diaper bank,” she said. “Some people have even given us project donations, and those are all being given straight to the charity.” The calendars are now available for sale at http://www.mountainmamascalendar.com.
