Local stars dance for charities
Who is the best, hot-footed, boot-scooting celebrity in the High Country?
Be sure to attend the first Dancing with the High Country Stars event on Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Hayes Performing Arts Center in Blowing Rock to find out.
The fun begins at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are on sale now.
During this unique dance competition, local celebrities will perform a variety of dance styles in an attempt to raise money for four local charities.
Dancers participating in Dancing with the High Country Stars will be raising money for Blowing Rock CARES (Children Are Really Extra Special), the Watauga Humane Society, the Hayes Performing Arts Center and the Blowing Rock Community Foundation.
Dancers competing in the event are Gary Smith, Aaron Miller, Lauren Carter, Chuck Lambeth, Shellie Karaus, Gwen Dhing, Dr. Janet Barton Speer and Todd Morgan.

The Menu
Dancing with the High Country Stars is more than just an opportunity to see your friends cavort on stage and raise money for worthy causes. It is also a chance to chow down on incredibly tasty morsels.
The menu for next Thursday’s event will include roasted beef tenderloin cocktail sandwiches on parmesan roll, mini lump crab cakes, chicken breast skewers with satay sauce, assorted cheeses, fruits and vegetables, assorted desserts, coffee, wines and other beverages.
The event is being catered by Foggy Rock.
