Lineman Rodeo May 24 in Boone

The 15th annual Lineman Rodeo to be held on Thursday, May 24, in Boone. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Appalachian State University’s intramural fields, located off State Farm Road and Dale Street behind the freshman parking lot.

The Lineman Rodeo attracts the best linemen from utility companies from across the state to participate in events based on traditional lineman tasks and skills.

The rodeo is the ultimate venue for linemen to demonstrate their skills and knowledge. Journeyman and apprentice linemen will compete for professional recognition, attend training courses and practice essential skills in a safe environment.

The rodeo is sponsored by the N.C. Association of Municipal Electric Systems, and New River Light & Power is the host utility.
