High School Chorale semester begins Jan. 13
The first rehearsal of the High Country High School Chorale will be held Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 4 to 5:30 at the Boone United Methodist Church.
This High Country High School Chorale, offered through the Appalachian State University Community Music School, is designed for both male and female singers grades 8-12, who would enjoy having additional opportunities in singing and vocal performance.
Public, private and home-schooled students are encouraged to participate. Students who have had limited choral experience are welcomed, as well as those who have more experience.
The choir's repertoire features a wide variety of quality music, including folk, sacred, classical and jazz literature.
The High Country High School Chorale is beginning its second semester after a very successful first semester of singing throughout the High Country.
"We invite you to join us," conductor Pamela Hopton-Jones said. "Emphasis will be placed not only on good singing technique, but on developing excellent musicianship during each choral rehearsal."
Rehearsals for this ensemble will be held each Wednesday afternoon from 4 to
5:30 p.m. at the Boone United Methodist Church, beginning Jan. 13. The cost per semester, including music, is $184.00 per student enrolled from January through May.
Payments are made through ASU's Community Music School at http://www.music.appstate.edu/cms.html.
The first rehearsal of this semester begins on Wednesday, and Jones said people are invited to attend to observe and participate without commitment.
"Any student who enjoys singing is invited to participate in this new choral ensemble," she said. "If you know of other interested students, please invite them to attend."
