Festival of the Book
The High Country Festival of the Book and the Watauga Arts
Council are presenting a contest for the best original artwork for the 2012 festival, to be held
Aug. 3 and 4 at the Meadowbrook Inn in Blowing Rock.
The theme for the festival, sponsored by
the Friends of the Watauga County Public Library, is “Mountain Stories,” a theme that can describe
both legend and literature.
Digital entries must be emailed to the Arts Council by Wednesday,
April 18, and need to be vertically formatted for a poster.
The Watauga County Arts Council
gallery committee will select the artwork and announce the winner at a reception at the Jones House
on Friday, May 4.
By entering the contest, artists agree to have their submitted images
displayed on the website or festival materials.
The original artwork will be auctioned at
the Book Festival to benefit the Friends of the Watauga County Public Library.
In return,
the artist receives publicity for his or her work; it will appear on a promotional poster, the
website, the festival program, banners and all other promotional and marketing materials.
The winner will also receive two free tickets (a $200 value) to the 2012 Movable Author
Feast to be held on Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Meadowbrook Inn in Blowing Rock.
