Farm to Table Dinner May 25
New River Organic Growers is inviting diners to a May 25 Farm
to Table Dinner at the River House in Grassy Creek, Ashe County.
The dinner, which begins at 6 p.m., will feature a five-course meal prepared by Chef Bill Klein. The food comes courtesy of member farmers of New River Organic Growers.
According to NROG, “You will get to meet the farmers who grow your food; they may even wait on your table. You will also meet the chef, as he explains the preparation of the dishes.”
The dinner will also feature a raffle of prizes from farmers and area businesses.
New River Organic Growers is a farmers’ cooperative of the High Country, selling produce, meat, cheese and eggs. It was founded in 1998 to help farmers transition from growing tobacco and has since grown into a large cooperative selling local food to restaurants and retailers throughout the High Country and Asheville areas. NROG’s warehouse is based in Fleetwood.
