Fall plant sale Sept. 7

The Watauga Humane Society will hold its fall perennial, herb and bulb sale from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 7, in the parking lot of Precision Printing, 1302 Blowing Rock Road, in Boone.

One hundred percent of proceeds will benefit community assistance spay-neuter programs.
Seeds harvested from this year’s perennials, annuals and herbs will also be on sale, with prices from 50 cents to $5.

All plants, seeds and bulbs come from well-established gardens.

Plants and seeds for sale will include larkspur, columbine, lupine, midnight hollyhock, mixed hollyhock, artemesia, rose mallow, campion, sweet William, sweet Woodruff, blue plumbago, Jack-in-the-pulpit, Dutch iris, day lilies, liriope, hosta, foxglove, gaillardia, jade, rubber plant, philodendron, wood poppy, toad lily, tall phlox, ajuga, coneflower (red, yellow, purple and white), sedum, black-eyed Susan, shasta daisy, ox-eye daisy, gloriosa daisy, sundrops, stokesia, jade and scarlet lobelia.

Herbs for sale will include oregano, creeping thyme, lemon balm, dill, basil, bee balm, tarragon, cilantro and catnip, and there will be daffodil and gladiolus bulbs on hand, as well.
