English food to do good
The Six Pence Pub in Blowing Rock will host a benefit dinner
for the Crysel family from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Monday, March 12.
Options include shepherd’s
pie, bangers and mash, fish and chips and much more.
Lucas Crysel, a local husband and
father of two small children, was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma and will undergo treatment.
“On Jan. 9, Lucas went to the emergency room for severe back pain,” an event organizer said.
“After MRIs, X rays … doctors discovered a massive tumor inside Lucas’ chest cavity. A biopsy
revealed the tumor is cancerous— Ewing’s sarcoma.
“For the next year, he will be
traveling back and forth from Boone to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem to receive treatments and
hopefully have the tumor removed,” event organizers said. “This family has a long road ahead of
them, and we are doing everything we can to raise money for the medical bills and everyday living
expenses.”
One hundred percent of food sales at Six Pence on Monday evening will go to the
Crysel family to help with medical expenses.
