Ladies: As you go about your spring cleaning, consider donating gently used spring and summer clothing and accessories to the High Country Women’s Fund.

The organization will host its fifth annual Mother’s Day POP Shoppe from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, at Unique Boutique in Boone.

“POP” stands for Power of the Purse, the organization’s fundraising slogan.

Each year, the HCWF throws a party for the women it serves through a variety of community agencies, including The Children’s Council, OASIS (Opposing Abuse with Service, Information and Shelter), Hospitality House and WAMY Community Action.

Participating women may choose three outfits and accessorize with shoes, purses, scarves and jewelry. While mothers shop, HCWF volunteers watch the children and help them pick out gifts to wrap for mothers to open the next day.

Through April 30, drop off clothing and accessories at the following locations:

• McAdams Clothier, 697 W. King St., Boone
• Monkees of Blowing Rock, 1203 Main St., Blowing Rock
• South’s Clothiers, 1180 Blowing Rock Road, Boone Mall
• Tricia Wilson Law Firm, 3816 Mitchell Ave., Linville

The High Country Women’s Fund, an initiative of the High Country United Way, works to affect positive change for women and their families in Avery and Watauga counties. For more information, contact Judy Painter at (828) 297-1948 or Barbara Aycock at (828) 733-1465.
