Vanessa Van Valin of Dog’s Best Friend Training will be teaching a basic dog obedience class using the clicker training technique.

She will be conducting a five-week program on Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Feb.16 and 23 and March 1, 8 and 15. Cost of class is $150. Classes will be held in the Watauga Humane Society’s community room, and a portion of the proceeds benefits the animals at the Watauga Humane Society.

Requirements for the classes are rabies vaccination and five-way vaccination, a five-foot leash, a clicker and dog treats.

Puppies must be at least 4 months old and have all shots completed.

Pet owners need to bring the pet’s documentation and arrive at 5 p.m. on Feb.16 for registration. No aggressive dogs will be allowed, at trainer’s discretion.

Van Valin has been a dog trainer formore than 15 years and is experienced in dog obedience, problem solving, tricks, agility and search and rescue training.
