Say cheese. Or eat cheese. And then bark.

In conjunction with Charleston Forge, Tara Michelle Photography and the Wataugas Dog Park, the Watauga Humane Society presents “Dog Portraits in the Park.”

These professionally taken photos of man’s best friend cost $25, with proceeds benefiting the Humane Society and dog park.

The cost includes a 20-minute mini-photo session for one or two dogs and five professionally edited digital photos provided digitally on a CD. The disk of digital photos will be mailed to pet owners within two weeks of the event with a full print release.

Participants will also receive a 5 percent discount coupon off Charleston Forge’s June 1 second annual Warehouse Sale.

The photos will be taken at the Watauga Dog Park near or at the gazebo between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 26. Space is limited, and appointments can be made by contacting Shirley at (dogportraitsinthedogpark@gmail.com) or (828) 264-0100.

Participants must also sign a release allowing the sponsoring companies to possibly use their pet’s image in future advertising or promotional events.

“There are so many dogs and cats that need your help, and the Watauga Humane Society can’t do it alone,” a Watauga Humane Society official said. “They need donations to help feed, house and care for those animals less fortunate than our own pets. The Watauga Dog Park provides a place for your pets to socialize and exercise in a safe environment.”
