When it comes to Watauga County Schools in the wintertime, one
thing is certain: The kids love Santa.
So far, The Mountain Times has received a sleighful of letters from area students, addressed to jolly old St. Nick himself. From hippopotami to video games to panda relief, Watauga's creative and clever youngsters have thought of just about everything.
We're happy to relay them to our bureau at the North Pole, but we're even more excited to share them with readers in our upcoming Dec. 23 issue.
In the meantime, here's a smattering of letters from Hardin Park, Valle Crucis and Parkway schools. Check next week's Times for more.
There are a lot of people in this world that are in need that need help. Whether they are in Haiti, Pakistan, or sleeping on a bench on the side of the road. They all need help and for Christmas this year I just want you to help those people in need. I also wish my brother will get a good education at college. Of course I want something for Christmas but I want you to help people and animals before you get me anything. I wish there would be world peace in this world no fighting just peace. Thank you so much Santa.

I want a VERY VERY real white fluffy cat for Christmas. A Polly Pocket, best friend's necklace. I hve been very GOOD by respecting my friends and sharing my toys. I live at Logan Lane. I want to get my Nana a new necklace. What are the reindeer doing? Say hello to Rudolf for me. I love you and I will leave milk and cookies for you and carrots for the reindeer.
