Crossnore hosts gingerbread house contest
Winning gingerbread houses could earn their builders $150, $75 or $50.
The Crossnore School is once again hosting a Gingerbread House Competition on Friday, Dec. 16.
Open to all ages, there will be a first, second and third prize of $150, $75 and $50, respectively, in both the adult and children/youth division. (Note: Children and youth are welcome to submit group projects from their classroom, Sunday school class, scout troop, 4-H club, sports team, etc.)
The rules for the competition are: All materials, including decorative items, must be edible, and the size of each gingerbread creation cannot exceed 30 inches by 30 inches by 30 inches.
All entries must be delivered to the Mary Irwin Belk Dining Hall on the campus of The Crossnore School between noon and 2 p.m. on Dec. 16. At 2 p.m., the doors will close and judging will commence. At 3 p.m., the doors will open and everyone is invited to come enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, hot cider and treats as they view the 2011 gingerbread creations.
All prize-winning gingerbread creations will be on display in the Weaving Room from Dec. 17-21.
