Citrus for a Cause
Pumpkins aren’t the only orange crop this autumn.
Boone
Sunrise Rotary’s annual fruit sale fundraiser is under way, offering Florida’s finest citrus for a
cause.
The sale, featuring navel oranges, ruby red grapefruit, juice oranges, tangelos and
mixed fruit (navel oranges and ruby red grapefruit), runs through Nov. 11.
The fruit is
picked up only a few days prior to shipment to Boone by Florida Indian River Groves. Proceeds
benefit a variety of community organizations supported by the local Rotary chapter, as well as
Rotary International projects.
The boxed fruit is available in small (20 lbs.) and large case
(40 lbs.) sizes, with small cases costing $22 and large cases $32. Mixed fruit cases cost $25 per
small case and $35 per large case.
People can order fruit by contacting a Rotarian or by visiting
http://www.boonesunriserotary.org or http://www.fruitorder.com, using organization ID No. 729293 for the
latter.
Pick-up dates are scheduled for Dec. 15 and 16, between 1:30 and 5:30 p.m., Dec. 17
between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and Dec. 18, between 1 and 4 p.m., at Legends, located at 190 Hardin St.
on the Appalachian State University campus.
