Chamber raffle offers $6,000-plus in prizes
What do golf, catering, breweries, theater and weekend getaways have in common?
They all come courtesy of the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce — provided you hold the winning ticket.
It’s time again for the chamber’s annual fundraising raffle, and with more than $6,000 in prizes, this years event promises to be the biggest yet.
“This is definitely the biggest annual fundraising raffle that we’ve had,” chamber president Dan Meyer said. “We’ve got everything from travel packages to golf packages to party packages — you name it.”
Meyer said the chamber’s members have been generous in providing the prizes, so, this year, the chamber intends to follow suit by donating a portion of the proceeds to the Hunger and Health Coalition in Boone.
One needn’t be a chamber member to purchase tickets, which cost $10 for one or $100 for 12.
“There are a lot of different prizes, so there’s a lot more potential to win,” Meyer said. “The odds are good, and certainly, we’re pleased to be able to support one of our local, nonprofit (organizations). Every one of our programs this year is also supporting a nonprofit. We encourage people to not only shop local, but to give local.”
Prizes include vacation packages to Asheville and Abingdon, Va., tickets to Appalachian State University football games, tickets to ASU Performing Arts series events, a spa and dinner package at Westglow Resort and Spa, a healing and health package, golf packages to area courses and clubs, passes to High Country vacation attractions, catering, gift certificates to area restaurants and stores and wine and beer packages from area wineries and breweries.
The drawing will be held at the chamber’s annual meeting Aug. 12 at Tweetsie Railroad, and ticketholders needn’t be present to win. To purchase tickets, visit http://www.boonechamber.com/raffle, call (828) 264-2225, or visit the chamber office at 870 W. King St., Suite A, in downtown Boone.
