Boone Independent Restaurants presents Celebrity Serve June 4 through 6.

The fundraiser will see local “celebrities” volunteer as servers at area restaurants for dinner on those three days, with their tips, as well as a percentage of restaurant sales, benefiting the High Country United Way.

“Money raised here stays right here to help those in Watauga and Avery counties,” said Tim Baxter, co-chairman of the High Country United Way. “What a great opportunity for our local community to come together around issues and make a positive impact on the lives of our residents.”

On Tuesday, June 4, participants restaurants include Makoto’s (lunch and dinner), Casa Rustica, The Town Tavern, Canyons and Woodland’s. Wednesday’s menu includes Pepper’s, The Rock, Mr. Original Gyros, Café Portofino, Char, The Peddler and Dan’l Boone Inn. Thursday's lineup includes Bandana's, Mellow Mushroom and Earth Fare.

“This year’s Celebrity Serve will also include an opportunity to say thank you to coach Jerry Moore for all he and his wife, Margaret, have done for our area in the last 24 years,” Baxter said.
Moore is expected to participate on each night of Celebrity Serve.
