For "Animal Adventures," look no further than Black Bear Books.
Jennifer Bean Bower will sign copies of her new book, "Animal Adventures in North Carolina," at Black Bear Books in Boone on Friday, April 29, at 5:30 p.m.
In "Animal Adventures in North Carolina," Bower shares 70 wildlife attractions she discovered throughout her travels of the entire state (no locations paid to be included in the boo).
Each entry in this family-friendly guide book provides contact information, driving directions, possible fees, hours of operation and useful travel tips, accompanied by photographs and detailed descriptions of the attractions' offerings.
In the mountains, readers can visit the bears at Grandfather Mountain or howl with 70 wolfdogs at Full Moon Farm in Black Mountain, then head toward Charlotte, where they can explore a tropical jungle at Discovery Place's rainforest habitat, and then surround themselves with free-flying butterflies at the all-a-flutter butterfly farm in High Point.
From there, they can continue to the coast to Little Man's Zoo, a habitat for nearly 30 rescued spider monkeys and other animals, including a Z-donk (a zebra and donkey hybrid), with many more animal adventures in between.
