The unofficial kick-off of autumn in the High Country is right around the corner — the Fall Bazaar at Boone United Methodist Church.

Located at 471 New Market Blvd., directly behind New Market Centre, the church’s annual bazaar will be Friday, Sept. 20, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 21, from 7:30 to 11 a.m.

Features include furniture, computers and electronics, sports equipment, clothing of all kinds, handmade crafts, Christmas items, jams and jellies, baked goods, new and previously viewed books and videos and yard sale items, as well as “down home” country cooking.

An old-fashioned country breakfast will be served Friday morning, and homemade lasagna will available for lunch. Stick Boy Bread Company sweet rolls and muffins will be served Saturday morning.

A silent auction, featuring jewelry, china, silver and many items from local businesses, will accept bids Friday until 6 p.m.

The bazaar is one of the church’s main events, involving more than 500 volunteers of all ages (3 to 102, to be exact), serving 6,000-plus hours. The event benefits the church building fund and local missions.
