Boone PD hosts Special Olympics fundraiser
The Boone Police Department will host a fundraiser for the Special Olympics Thursday, March 21, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Chick-fil-A in Boone.
Appalachian State University Mountaineers head football coach Scott Satterfield and a few of his players will be in attendance, as will some Watauga County athletes who will compete in the N.C. Special Olympics.
T-shirts are available for a $13 donation, with proceeds going to support Special Olympics training and events for athletes with intellectual disabilities in North Carolina.
In addition, Chick-fil-A will give away a free original Chick-fil-A sandwich to anyone who purchases a T-shirt.
"Please come out and join Boone Police, Appalachian State football, and Chick-fil-A in support of some very special people," an event spokesperson said.
