After four successful years of hosting gatherings in the U.S., Guatemala and Jamaica, Boone-based authors and One Love event organizers Julia and Robert Roskind will again host the Boone Gathering of the Peacemakers July 6 to 8.

Billed as “days of wisdom and nights of celebration,” the gathering includes nightly performances by recording artists ReggaeInfinity, Chalwa, Lion Tracks, Inverted Sea, and DJ Fiyah Babylon.

Also, Inspiral Fire Troupe will be spinning. Late night, there are fire and drum circles. There are daily workshops in creating a loving, sustainable and balanced life, including: affordable shelter, living on less, yoga (taught by Alicia Roskind of Okra Yoga in Charlotte), Earth skills (taught by Kevin Tincher of Lost Cove), finding your mission in life, intentional communities, creating visionary events, creating and sustaining loving marriages and unions, Hopi and Mayan prophecies and more.
The three-day gathering costs $75 for adults and $30 for children 4- to 14-years-old (children younger than 4 get in free), which includes camping.

Green Light Café of Asheville will be offering organic vegetarian meals. The venue is the High Country Motorcycle Camp in Ferguson, about 30 minutes south of Boone near Wilkesboro.

The Roskinds are authors of several books that carry a message of unconditional love for all. In the last 10 years, their family has organized and hosted more than 170 free One Love concerts and events in Jamaica and at Native American reservations, colleges, prisons and public venues in the U.S. All these events encourage the audience to claim themselves as “teachers of love” by exercising love and forgiveness in their lives. They have recently founded The One Love Foundation, a nonprofit organization.

“This is not just another outdoor festival,” said Jeremiah Brown of Inverted Sea. “All the music will be ‘musical medicine,’ carrying messages of love and forgiveness.”

“The gatherings are part spiritual retreat, part festival and part summer camp for both children and adults,” Robert Roskind said. “Our goal is to prepare ourselves for the coming decades of change so that we might share this peace and sense of purpose with others.”
