Boone Chamber on Parade
This Monday, June 11, downtown businesses were dancing to chamber music, as the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its inaugural Membership Event Parade through downtown Boone.
The parade is part of the chamber’s membership drive, organized by Texas-based Your Chamber Connection (YCC), an organization that’s worked with more than 600 chambers nationwide and raised more than $42 million in membership revenue.
“What they do is unique,” Boone chamber president Dan Meyer said. “This is not just a typical membership drivce. This is really a chamber awareness and membership opportunity.”
With the help of YCC speaker Jimmy Cusano, chamber members have been named membership drive chairmen and captains, gathering teams of five to make calls on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 19 and 20.
“Our goal is to get 150 new members,” Meyer said. “People are asked to contact their friends, vendors they use, businesses they frequent and to simply retell (Cusano’s) story of the value of participating in a larger group that helps to develop and sustain business.
“They’re particiapting in the greater economic support of our community, the encouragement of business-to-business contacts, the opportunity for best business practices, the opportunity to take advantage of the chamber’s involvement in the High Country.”
A post-drive celebration will be held Thursday, June 21, for members and volunteers at the Courtyard Marriott in Boone.
Meyer said the drive is still open to chamber members who wish to participate. To do, or for more information, call the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce at (828) 264-2225 or visit http://www.boonechamber.com.
