Book festival comes to Blowing Rock Aug. 3-4
Friends of the Watauga County Public Library will host the first High Country Festival of the Book at Meadowbrook Inn in Blowing Rock on Aug. 3 and 4.
The High Country Festival of the Book will bring 30 acclaimed authors to the High Country to celebrate a love of literature and the beauty of writing.
The weekend will include booths put together by local authors and publishers, a Civil War symposium, a writers’ workshop with Wade Rouse and the most anticipated event, the Moveable Author Feast.
“The Friends are ecstatic about bringing this event to the High Country,” said Suzanne Thompson, Friends board member and chairwoman of the High Country Festival of the Book. “We hope to inspire people throughout North Carolina to come up and support a love of literature and raise money for the library along the way.”
All events are free to the public, except the writers’ workshop and the Author’s Feast. Tickets for the workshop are $30 and require registration through the Festival of the Book website, http://www.highcountryfestivalofthebook.com.
Feast ticket price is forthcoming, although organizers are predicting it will be the highlight of the weekend. The feast will give attendees the opportunity to meet and chat with 30 authors from around the region and enjoy a gourmet meal.
All money raised from ticket sales will go to the Watauga County Public Library and new programs.
