Blessing of the Animals Sunday

St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church will host its
traditional “Blessing of the Animals” this Sunday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m. on the front lawn of the
church.
According to organizers, “This is one of the most inspirational services of
the church year and welcomes all pet owners and animal lovers to bring his or her beloved pets or
any other of God’s creatures ... to be blessed by Father Rick and Father Sam.”
Past services
have included everything from goats, horses, rodents and bacteria. However, most of the creatures
blessed are much-loved dogs and cats.
St. Mary of the Hills is located at 140 Chestnut
Drive in Blowing Rock.
