Ben Folds is coming to town,
Appalachian State University Student Services specialist Randy Kelly confirmed.
The former
Ben Folds Five front man and Winston-Salem native has been a contributor to cult hits like William
Shatner's "Has Been," and his show is expected to sell out quickly.
Folds' latest album,
"Lonely Avenue," is a collaboration with acclaimed author Nick Hornby, though many best remember
Folds for the BF5 hit single, "Brick."
Expect an intimate show with the percussion and piano
expert, Kelly said, with tickets going on sale online Thursday.
Walk-up tickets have been
available since Wednesday, March 2, at Farthing Auditorium's box office. The show was arranged
"at the last minute," Kelly said, and the reason for the short notice on ticket sales was
calculated. "Anything to throw off the scalpers," he said.
The show is April 10. Tickets are
$22 for students and $27 for the public. Because the show is at Farthing Auditorium, tickets are
limited. As of Wednesday morning, Farthing staff confirmed fans had been camping out for tickets.

latest album.
