Some 20 pro wrestlers will hit the ring to battle it out for
11-year-old Brady Bakken of Valle Crucis, who was diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma in January 2012.
Premiere Wrestling Experience presents “Brady Bakken’s Battle on the Mountain Top” this
Saturday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at Watauga High School. Tickets are $15 for ringside seats, which
includes an event poster and early admission to meet and greet, and $10 for general admission
seats.
Bakken has undergone cancer treatment, including multiple rounds of chemotherapy, at
Wake Forest Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem. “He’s a huge wrestling fan,” said April
Smith, an assistant track coach at Appalachian State University.
Smith’s husband, a former
ASU athlete, recently began pro wrestling, and his promoter helped the Smiths organize the benefit,
she said.
Headlining the event is Boone’s own Brad Attitude, who will face off against Ring
of Honor’s Roderick Strong.
“This will be a homecoming for Attitude, and no doubt the brash
and obnoxious Strong is looking to spoil it,” reads the event description. “These two have met many
times in the past, but never in Attitude’s hometown.”
Caleb Konley will face ROH World
Television Champion Adam Cole for the PWX Championship. For the PWX Tag-Team Championship, Corey
Hollis and Chip Day will face Jake Manning and Grizzly Redwood in a long-running feud.
Cedric
Alexander is scheduled to square off with former WWE star and Wrestle Mania 23 headliner Bobby
Lashley. And in a women’s match, Amy Love combats Amber O’Neal.
Several more matches are
planned.
“This is a star-studded once-in-a-lifetime event, and we are all so proud of the
amazing world-renowned pro-wrestling superstars who have stepped up to help Brady Bakken and the
Bakken family,” the event description reads.
