BSL brings Motown to the mountains

Motown in the Mountains, Boone Service League’s largest fundraiser of the year, comes to the Meadowbrook Inn on Friday, May 11, at 7 p.m.

“Dance to the music of the band, Soul Benefactor, enjoy food, friends and a cash bar,” an event organizer said. “And, above all, join in the live and silent auctions during the evening to help support the work of the Boone Service League in our High Country community.

“Money raised goes toward scholarships for deserving young people, project grants to our hard-working nonprofit organizations, and assistance to individuals and families who have sudden emergency needs.”

This year, donations for auction from local businesses include ticket packages to An Appalachian Summer Festival, a Valle Crucis escape package, countless dining gift certificates, an Appalachian Ski Mountain season ski pass, a High Country attractions package, jewelry items, rounds of golf, decorative items for the home, Disney “Park-Hopper” tickets, an Abingdon, Va., package, an Appalachian State University football game-day package, pet supplies, fashion accessories, photography sessions, healthful living items, and more.
