Author Robert Goolrick speaks July 29 at ASU
Bestselling author Robert Goolrick will present a program on writing memoirs at Appalachian State University's Belk Library and Information Commons Thursday, July 29 at 3 p.m. in Room 421.
Goolrick is the author of the highly successful memoir "The End of the World as We Know It" that tells his story of growing up with abusive parents. Publishers Weekly said of the book, "A moving, unflinchingly rendered story of how the past can haunt a life" and People magazine called it a "courageous and successful work."
A reception and book signing will follow the free presentation. Books will be for sale at the event. Parking is available in the deck next to the library on College Street, behind the First Baptist Church.
Goolrick also is the author of the acclaimed novel "A Reliable Wife," which has been on various bestseller lists in recent months.
His appearance is the third in a series of presentations by well-known writers sponsored by Belk Library and Information Commons this summer and fall. John Hart, popular North Carolina novelist, will speak at a luncheon at the Meadowbrook Inn in Blowing Rock Sept. 30. He has written three bestselling novels: "King of Lies," "Down River" and "The Last Child."
