Vacations, golf outings, Appalachian State football tickets and gift certificates to spas and restaurants are just a sampling of the more than 100 items available in the benefit auction Aug. 6, sponsored by the High Country Caregivers Foundation (HCCF).

The evening kicks off at 5:30 p.m. in Evans Auditorium at Lees-McRae College with the silent auction, and the live auction will begin at 7 p.m. Music will be presented by New Roots.
Dinner from Bandana's will be available from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for a donation of $10 per person.
Admission is free to all parts of the event.

"It is a fun and casual evening to bid on great items and have a yummy dinner, all the while raising funds to provide respite care and relief for family caregivers in our community," foundation president Carol Berns said.

The auction is one of the major fundraising events held by the HCCF, a nonprofit organization that provides respite vouchers for family caregivers in Avery and Watauga counties. Since its inception in 2006, 161 vouchers have been distributed to local caregivers, enabling them to take a short break from their duties.
