Amy Marie Young performs July 11 in Blowing Rock

Amy Young, who started Blowing Rock's Monday Night Concert Series in 2000, returns to perform July 11.

The Monday Night Concert Series in Blowing Rock is in full swing, with five concerts planned for the 2011 season.

This is the 12th season for the Monday Concerts in the Broyhill Park, offering tourists and residents an opportunity to enjoy free live music.

July 11 will see the third concert in the series and will feature Amy Marie Young (, who originated the concerts in 2000.

Young currently lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she teaches music at the Lincoln International School. She will be performing along with Steve Sensenig (, musical director at the Barter Theatre in Abington, Va., Krista Wells and Shanon Sheppard Venable.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and takes place at the Broyhill Park at the gazebo behind the swimming pool on Clark Street. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be relocated to the American Legion building on Park Avenue.

This concert is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the town of Blowing Rock and Blowing Rock Parks and Recreation. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for their comfort. For more information, call (828) 295-5222.
