ASU releases 2013-14 PAS lineup

The Grammy Award-winning Tedeschi Trucks Band, featuring Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi will perform at the Schaefer Center in Boone on Friday, Nov. 1. The band’s latest studio album, ‘Made Up Mind,’ is due for an Aug. 20 release.

From a Grammy Award-winning blues band to the Broadway sensation STOMP!, the 2013-14 Performing Arts Series at Appalachian State University has something for everyone.

The Performing Arts Series kicks off with the Banff Mountain Film Festival, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20 and 21. The scheduling marks a change for the annual film festival, which has previously been shown during ASU’s spring semester.

The festival features outdoor adventure films of varying lengths on a wide array of subjects from around the world. Different films will be shown on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Tickets for the Banff Mountain Film Festival each night are $10 for adults and $8 for students and can be reserved by calling (828) 262-4046.

The lineup for the 2013-14 ASU Performing Arts Schedule includes Cirque Zuma Zuma on Sept. 26, Frank Warren’s “PostSecret” on Oct. 1, Tedeschi Trucks Band on Nov. 1, Savion Glover’s “StePz” on Nov. 15, River North Dance Chicago on Jan. 31, 2014, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra on Feb. 25, 2014, STOMP! on March 3, 2014, Montana Repertory Theatre’s “The Miracle Worker” on April 3, 2014, and “Kiss Me, Kate” April 11 to 13, 2014.
