ASU hosts reception for Watauga history book Nov. 24
Belk Library at Appalachian State University is honoring the "Architectural History of Watauga County" with a reception Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Room 421. The public is invited to attend and see the book and meet some of the people responsible for producing it. The "History" was published by the Watauga County Historical Society.
Diane Perry, president of the Watauga County Historical Society, said, "We are so proud of this book. It is very important to the history of this county, and it is a beautifully produced book."
The book will be on display at the reception. It can be purchased at the Jones House Community Center in Boone, at the Appalachian State University Bookstore, and at Edgewood Cottage Blowing Rock. Further information can be found online at http://www.wataugacountyhistoricalsociety.com, which features a link for an order form.
Dr. Mary Reichel, distinguished professor and university librarian, who will host the event, said, "I am thrilled that the book has been published. It is a significant accomplishment, which advances our ability to understand the history of Watauga County. The photographs are marvelous and worth the price of the book itself. The text is both informative and fun to read. Belk Library and Information Commons and the Friends of the Library are honored to host a celebration of its publication. Our reception is open to the public; so do come."
