ASU greenhouse sale Aug. 25-27
The Department of Biology greenhouse fall plant sale will be held Aug. 25-27 at Appalachian State University.
The greenhouse is located at 333 Dale St. off State Farm Road. Sale hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Lots of tropical plants will be available, starting at just $1. Several perennial varieties will be available, ideal for fall planting.
Offerings include lavender, several varieties of hollyhock, foxglove, blanket flower, ornamental kale, purple fountain grass, pink anthemis (Marguerite daisy), and others. There also will be a few rare, hardy, earthbound orchids.
Virtually all the plants are grown by student and community volunteers, as well as greenhouse staff. All proceeds will be used to support greenhouse operations and the High Country Gardening program. Email (meyerja@appstate.edu) for details.
