A Cool 5 Race Weekend hits Beech June 9
The town of Beech Mountain and Antler Realty are gearing up for the Antler Realty A Cool 5 Race, scheduled for June 9.
The race is an annual hometown event that begins at Beech Mountain Town Hall that day at 9 a.m. All proceeds to benefit the Beech Mountain Parks & Recreation Department Fireman’s Park project.
Participants have the option of doing the 1.5K fun walk or running five miles. The route selected is carefully thought out with plenty of level areas and scenic mountain vistas. Joggers and walkers are encouraged to bring the whole family and their favorite pet to the event, where they can enjoy live music, a bouncy gym, free food, complimentary beer from Boone Brewing and lots of giveaways.
Julia Heinlein, owner of Antler Realty, is the first title sponsor to ever endorse this sports event.
“I am thrilled to have my company’s name attached to such a spectacular hometown event that raises money for a good cause,” Heinlein said. “What a great way to kick off the summer on Beech Mountain. This event has motivated me to start getting in shape and eating healthy.”
Other Cool 5 weekend events included a $6 pasta dinner Friday, June 8, the night before the race, featuring endurance sports coach Lee Zohlman as guest motivational speaker.
Saturday afternoon, after the race, will see the first Beech Mountain Pub Crawl, beginning at 4 p.m. and featuring four popular pubs: Fast Eddies, Beech Alpen Inn, Brick Oven Pizza and Jackalope’s View/The Vault Bar. Discount drinks, free appetizers, and music are just some of the Pub Crawl features. On Sunday, the town of Beech Mountain will offer a recovery yoga session and guided hike. Everyone is welcome to attend.
“We are extremely excited to partner with Antler Realty for this wonderful race weekend,” A Cool 5 Race director Daniel Scagnelli said. “We have food, fun, competition, great prizes, a vibrant race village, cutting edge technology and the best scenery anywhere, which all amounts to an unrivaled atmosphere and event experience.”
