A local farm family and chef take center stage next week on “Flavor, NC,” a weekly television series celebrating the best of local food and farmers in North Carolina.

The “Flavor, NC” episode featuring farmer Seth Church of Apple Brandy Beef in North Wilkesboro and Chef Andrew Long of Storie Street Grille in Blowing Rock airs at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, on UNC-EX and at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, on UNC-TV.

“Flavor, NC” is a go-to television resource for local food in North Carolina. In every episode, “Flavor, NC” savors the tastes of North Carolina and celebrates the farmers and food artisans working to keep Tar Heel agriculture growing.

“Every week we get to know a different Tar Heel farmer, fisherman or food producer, then head in to the kitchen to cook up inspiring recipes using the fruits of their labor,” according to show organizers.

“In this episode, we head to the beautiful hills of Wilkes County to learn the story of the Church family and their successful Apple Brandy Beef operation. We’ll find out how the Churches care for their land, including their pastures on the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, and host Lisa Prince even gets a lesson in cow calling from patriarch Henry Church."

“Then it’s off to Blowing Rock and into the kitchen with Chef Andrew Long of Storie Street Grille. We’re cooking up some fabulous beef recipes, including stout braised beef short ribs, iron-seared New York strip with red wine shallot sauce and marinated grilled Denver cut steak with chilled soba noodle salad.”

“Flavor, NC” is produced by the multiple Emmy Award-nominated team at BlueWater Media, a full service television and video production company with offices in Raleigh and Danbury.

UNC-TV is North Carolina’s statewide public television network watched by an average of 4 million viewers a week in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia.
